(Robert Dix, left. secretive Shooting Star owner, right) Note; Identical shirts Thursday afternoon was the arrival of Robert Dix to Shooting Star Lavender Farm. Mr. Dix from Beverly Hills, California, was spending the week in Oregon. Robert, was a contract player for MGM in the 1950’s and starred in many films during the ‘60’s. Some of Roberts more notable films are Young Jesse James, Forbidden Planet (Now a classic Si-Fi film) and Live and Let Die (James Bond film). Robert is also the son of famous screen star Richard Dix, who in 1931 won Best Actor Oscar Nomination as Yancey Cravat in the Academy award winning movie Cimarron. Richard Dix made and starred in over 97 feature films made between 1921 and 1947 for RKO and Paramount, Columbia and MGM and others before passing away in 1949 of heart attack. The third generation in the industry is Roberts grandson, a filmmaker contracted with Francis Ford Coppola/George Lucas in San Francisco. Mr. Dix was impressed with the beauty of the Clatskanie area, explaining he really enjoyed his week long visit, including the ferry boat ride to Cathlamet and the MedicineTree at the Lavender Farm. Robert is currently developing a plan to assist the Native American Indian Community in bringing their stories to the World market via television and motion pictures!
